I have to admit, I was actually very disappointed with its single-player mode. There are a lot of hidden areas and it doesn’t give you any hints (except hints, of course, that it will get rid of you in a flash) and at some points you’ll be told to walk around all these hidden areas to find the secret way to them. I can’t imagine that anyone would be satisfied with this.
Although it’s not the fault of any of its designers, it’s definitely not that of the game’s players. There are some hidden areas and some of these are way too easy for people who have just finished the game. I just played with a group of friends and they were able to complete over 25 levels in about 48 hours. The only areas that took longer were the ones where the game would just send you to the next level.
The problem is that there are so many ways you can be punished. If you’re not good enough to be in the top 10% in the game, you’re not going to be able to play it very long. And that could be worse because if you’re not good enough to finish, you won’t have the money to buy the next level. So yeah, you want to play it for a long time. But your friends want to play it for a very short time.
